inItaly features Dialogues: Carol Rama and Rick Owens

inItaly reports on Dialogues, VOENA's Milan exhibition bringing together the work of Carol Rama and the sculptural furniture of Rick Owens - a meeting of two radical, outsider sensibilities.

inItaly has featured Dialogues, the exhibition at VOENA's Milan space on Via della Spiga pairing the Turinese artist Carol Rama with the sculpture-furniture of Rick Owens. The presentation draws out shared preoccupations — the body, eros, and the use of unconventional materials - offering a contemporary reading that dissolves the boundaries between art and design. Rama's work, from her erotic watercolours to bricolages assembled from prostheses, doll's eyes and found materials, is set against Owens's furniture in hide, bone, alabaster and plywood - a route in which materials seem to stand in for flesh, and aesthetics, decadence and sensuality intertwine. The exhibition is curated by Marco Frignati, with the selection and installation of the furniture by Michèle Lamy.
